Peer Review Policy

The act of peer-review ensures that only quality content is published. Each manuscript goes through the below mentioned process.

Our policy follows both single-blind and double bind reviewing method depending on the topic of the paper and the availability of the referees.

INITIAL ASSESMENT

The Editor initially assesses all manuscripts. Papers are not accepted at this stage but those who are rejected may lack originality, have serious scientific shortcomings or out of the scope of the journal. If these basic requirements are met, the editor then passes it to usually 3 but at least 2 experts for review.

REFEREE’S SELECTION

They are selected for the paper on the basis of their field of specialisation. Our reviewer board consists of a wide range of experts. In case, when we are unable to find a second expert for the paper, we request the author to suggest the second referee. The referee analyses the paper and points out any mistakes and scientific errors. His report is then taken into consideration by the Editor.

REFEREE’S REPORTS
Referees are asked to evaluate the following aspects of manuscript: –

  1. Originality and methodology.
  2. Adherence to the ethical guidelines.
  3. Presentation of results and conclusions.
  4. Correct references of any previous relevant work that might have been cited in the manuscript.
  5. They are not obliged to make any language corrections but may suggest them.

In case the reports by the referees contradict each other, help from a third expert will be sought.

FINAL REPORT & EDITOR’S DECISION

ARTICLE

DESCRIPTION

Accepted

Approved by the Editor. No major changes or further modifications are required. The article will be published after copy editing and proof reading.

Rejected

Not approved by the Editor. The article is rendered unfit for publication.

Revision needed

The article will be sent back to the author for making the suggested and required amendments. The revised paper will be rechecked by the initial reviewers as a second round of review after which it may be accepted or rejected by the author.

The report of the referees and the editor’s decision after the peer-review process will be sent to the author. Authors are required to consider the proposed changes or errors and make the necessary amendments. Revised manuscripts might be returned to the initial referees (if the manuscripts had required major revisions) who will the carry out the second round of review. Sometimes, if the paper is of very high quality or the topic is exceptionally interesting, a third round of review can be conducted on the editor’s decision.

The final decision, regarding the fate of the paper, is always taken by the editor whereas the referees only advise the editor with their expert opinion. The decision about the acceptance or rejection of the manuscript is sent to the author at this stage, when the peer-review is completed.

Publication Ethics & Malpractice Policy

SET Publisher publishes peer-reviewed journals on various scientific disciplines. This statement explains ethical behaviour of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article for its journals, i.e.: the editors, reviewers and authors. This statement is based on internationally accepted Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Duties of Editors

Decision on the Publication of Articles
The Editor is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The Editor may be guided by the policies of the journal and subjected to such legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The Editor may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play
Manuscripts shall be evaluated solely on their intellectual merit without regard to authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality
The editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher.

Disclosure of conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used by anyone who has a view of the manuscript (while handling it) in his or her own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution of Peer Review
The Reviewers are experts in the field of the submission who assists the Editor in Chief and the handleing editor in making editorial decisions.

Promptness
Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the assigned manuscript or unable to provide a prompt review should notify the editor and excuse himself/herself from the review process.

Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to, or discussed with, others except as authorized by the Editor in Chief. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.

Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. There shall be no personal criticism of the author. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that had been previously reported elsewhere should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the Editor in Chief’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Conflict of Interest
Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Duties of Authors

Reporting standards
Authors of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such, if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

Originality and Plagiarism
Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others this must be appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple Publication
An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.

Corresponding Author

Corresponding author is the author responsible for communicating with the journal for publication. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Acknowledgment of Funding Sources
Sources of funding for the research reported in the article should be duly acknowledged at the end of the article.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
